This is the final in an eleven part series to read the first post click here.
I’m a pacifist about to go toe to toe with a megalomaniac mutant intent on ruling the world. How to do I plan to stop him? I’m going to politely explain the error of his ways and hope he decides to gives up his foolish schemes.
Apparently I’m descended from UN weapons inspectors.
The Master is a grotesque being. Not only is he a disgusting slug wielded into a mechanical dais but he also speaks in multiple voices at once. That part really creeps me out. He gives me the typical supervillain ultimatum “Join or Die”. It’s a classic, you can’t go wrong with the classics.
I press for time and tell him that if he can prove that his master plan will benefit humanity I’ll join him. Initially he’s resistant but like a typical pyschopath he eventually spills the beans. He believes that the mutants are better suited to surviving the post apocalyptic wasteland than standard humans. He doesn’t want to doom humanity he wants to save it. It’s a interesting if drastic plan but there’s a problem with it, the mutants are sterile.
Understandably the Master doesn’t believe me. So I present him with the scientific evidence the scribe Vree gave me back at the Brotherhood of Steel.
He’s devastated, his plans are all for nothing. He’s just wasted a long and lonely existence trying to save humanity for nothing.
He doesn’t attack or call for his guards, he just asks let’s me leave. As I turn to go I notice that he’s set the base to self destruct.
I race for the exit trying to remain undetected.
Unfortunately just as I’m about to get free I’m spotted by two goons.
I don’t have time for this so continue fleeing for the exit.
When I get to the surface the entire cathedral has gone hostile. I guess they’re scared and looking for someone to blame.
But their attacks do almost nothing to my heavy power armour and I’m able to make a quick escape.
As I leave the cathedral for good it’s hard not to notice all the innocents milling around out the front. Sure this time I didn’t press the self destruct button but let’s face it I’m no saint. The second I’m gone the cathedral detonates in a nuclear blast. How do I out run a nuclear blast? I’m not really sure myself.
My quest complete I head back to the vault. I can’t wait for my reward.
The overseer is being cagey he starts talking about how because I was able to survive the wasteland people are going to want to leave the vault. Don’t worry man I’ll be be sure to tell everyone how horrible it is out there.
The overseer won’t let me speak, it appears his mind is made up. I’m to be exiled.
God damn it. I freaking endure countless hardships, constant danger and this is how they repay me? With a sure and slow death outside the vault. Well Mr Overseer, unlucky for you I just went up a level.
I dump all my spare skill points into small guns. It doesn’t really raise it very high but it’ll give me a chance.
Then I walk up to him, point an SMG at his face and fire a fully automatic burst.
Well that was satisfying.
