This is part of an on going series to read the first post click here.
With the destruction of their base the Super Mutant army lies in tatters. Unfortunately it cost a lot of lives and I’m not sure if I’m to blame. Oh sure I have my reasons and excuses but even to me they sound a little hollow. But for now I’ve got to ignore such moralising because my quest continues.
I’ve heard that the Mutant leader, someone or something known as The Master, has a base to the south. The wasteland and more importantly my Vault won’t be safe till he’s dealt with.
But first I’m going to have to track him down. My only clue is that he’s located to the south. I decide to head to the LA Boneyard and look for further leads.
When I get to LA I soon learn that it’s a loosely knitted collection of different communities living together in an uneasy truce that could turn to bloodshed at any moment. The first of these communities is Adytum.
Adytum clearly has some problems, it’s a blasted out hell hole ruled with an iron first by a band of mercenary thugs originally hired to protect the people from raiders. I probably could do something to help these people but I’m fairly certain any kind of revolution is going to require violence. I decide that I’ve already got enough second hand blood on my hands and leave them to their miserable lives.
While exploring the rest of LA I come across this church like building. I figure I should investigate it.
Inside reside a group of idealist peaceniks who believe humanity needs to leave behind it’s violent ways if it’s to survive. Hey man I thought that was my shtick. Anyway their leader tells me about some dark cathedral to the south where people have gone missing. Sounds like I’ve found the Master’s hiding place.
I ask for more info and she gives me the name of her contact in the Cathedral.
Looks like I’m going to the Cathedral.
It’s night when I reach the cathedral. Outside a crowd of mercenaries and hopeless bums gathers. Some have been lured by the promise of salvation others by the promise of cash. None seem to know what’s going on.
I talk to my contact inside. She helps confirm my suspicions, this Cathedral is up to no good. Apparently there’s a downstairs base filled to the gills with super mutants and she thinks she can get me inside.
She opens up one of the back doors but before I can get into the base proper I’ll need to get a key from a man named Morpheus. There’s always a complication. Apparently I can find him upstairs.
I easily sneak past the super mutants guarding Morpheus’ private sanctuary and confront him.
The conversation doesn’t really go as planned and before I know it he’s taking me to meet the Master. On the one hand cool I’ve found the Master. On the other oh shit I’ve found the Master.
Next: Wait I’ve Got A Plan.
