I’m feeling positive about this. I have a good idea of where the water chip can be found and so far I haven’t had to compromise my morals (too much). As I leave the Hub surrounded by brahmin and armed guards I start to think nothing can stop me now. To Necropolis and glory.
In retrospect that may have been a little too optimistic.
Our party runs into trouble a few miles out of the Hub when we are attacked by a massive band of raiders. I’ve been attacked by raiders before but only in groups of two or three. This is like a raider apocalypse. Well I hope the other guards are up to the task because I won’t be any help.
They are not and are quickly cut down. I leg it and survive.
However due to what I can only guess is a bug in the game I then arrive at Necropolis with the caravan party as if nothing happened. I even get paid. I would complain but, you know, free money.
Right, I’m in a ghoul infested hell hole looking for a tiny chip, with no allies and no directions. Perhaps I better play this one low key.
I make my way into the sewers and try to ignore the dead bodies surrounding the staircase. At least whatever killed them appears to be gone now.
Further in I meet a band of friendly ghouls, these ones appear quite nice compared to the surface dwellers. They tell me that there is indeed a vault here and it does contain a water chip. Happy days.
However their people are currently using the vault as their only supply of drinkable water. Still they agree that if I can find the parts to fix their water pump they wont mind me taking the chip. Sounds like a fair deal, I get my chip, they get to continue their rather depressing existence, everybody wins.
I sneak towards the sewer section where I was told I could find the necessary parts. Along the way I spy this mutant. He sees me but doesn’t seem to mind my presence for now.
Right time to get those parts.
Okay here’s the deal, in this picture my cursor is highlighting the spare parts I need. Between me and the parts is a family of mole rats. I still remember what happened to Ian when he tangled with a family of those guys and he was a seasoned killer. It’s also an extremely enclosed space so stealth is not an option. I may be officially boned.
But then it occurs to me that I don’t actually need to fix the pump. I could just take the water chip and leave those ghouls in the lurch, it would be a dick move but I really don’t see any other option.
As I make my way towards the vault I am accosted by this rather thick mutant. he tells me that humans are to be taken to the lieutenant and ghouls are to be shot. I tell him that I am in fact a robot, not knowing what to do about robots he lets me through.
Alright time to play it cool. I sneak past the first few guards and make my way into the vault.
Just ignore the corpse of the last human who tried this.
Finally I have done it, I have the water chip.
I leave the vault and then run for the exit. Surely someone else can fix the pump, when you think about it it’s not really my responsibility is it?
